How Does AI Impact Employees Within an Organization?

AI can have a significant impact on employees within an organization, both positive and negative.

In this article I’m going to share what is:

  • AI and its definition
  • Examples of companies already implementing AI within their organizations
  • Ways AI can affect employees

📣 So what is AI?

If you have been living under a rock, AI is huge at the moment, a trend, innovation and a game-charger in today’s day and age. Whether it brings positive or negative outcomes – that is up to you to decide how you wish to view this latest innovation.

According to TechTarget. AI, an acronym for artificial intelligence, is the “simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems.”

You’re not wondering how does AI work/function?

An AI system is adding a big amount of labeled training data, analyzing the data for patterns and then using these patterns to forecast and suggest future states.

AI programming focuses on cognitive skills, for example:

  1. Learning
  2. Reasoning
  3. Self-correction
  4. Creativity
Artificial intelligence is based on the principle that human intelligence can be defined in a way that a machine can easily mimic it and execute tasks, from the most simple to those that are even more complex. The goals of artificial intelligence include mimicking human cognitive activity.” – states Investopedia.

🚀 So what are some examples of AI that have made a buzz in the working industry?

In 2022, the biggest AI known in the working industry was Open AI’s ChatGPT that really changed the course of productivity – positive or negative. To many, this tool has cut hours of research, data available in seconds with an impactful change.

However, some companies fear the sharing-information sensitivity taking them to set up guardrails on AI chatbots, according to Reuters: “ A growing number of businesses around the world have set up guardrails on AI chatbots, among them Samsung , Amazon.com and Deutsche Bank.”

Another AI technology that is used for document processing is OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and NLP (Natural Language Processing. What do they do? “These systems can extract data from scanned documents, invoices, and forms, classify and organize information, and feed it into relevant systems or workflows.”

And for the sales and marketing gurus, machine learning is kinda of a big deal. These optimize both sales and marketing by analyzing customer data, purchase, behavior and so forth and identify marketing trends, needs and other valuable insights precious to the company/brand.

✅ What are some companies that are big on AI and use it to their advantage?

  1. According to this study, Alibab, the biggest Chinese e-commerce platform, has integrated AI into their daily operations to predict customer’s patterns on what they wish to purchase. “With natural language processing, the company automatically generates product descriptions for the site.”
  2. Amazon has incorporated AI in many different ways in what they sell, to the way they sell. Alexa for example is a product they released as a digital voice assistant, but that is not the only way AI is linked to the prolific company. Amazon also uses AI by collecting key data that will study their customers’ behavior and anticipate products they will purchase.
  3. Apple, the mogul in tech, is yet another one that has incorporated AI into their products such as FaceIDFeature, and its popular smart assistant called Siri.
  4. Facebook, the now METAVERSE company uses AI to comprehend the content and emotional reason behind the millions of posts they receive, with that they use DeepText – which is a text understanding engine.

Improved Customer Service:

  • Positive Impact: AI chatbots and virtual assistants can handle customer inquiries and support, allowing human customer service agents to focus on more complex and emotionally engaging interactions.
  • Negative Impact: Employees in customer service roles might experience reduced job security if AI systems become highly proficient in handling customer inquiries.

Talent Acquisition and HR:
