Definition
A facilitator is someone who ensures that meetings are inclusive and productive.
They do that by providing a safe place for attendees to:
- ask for support,
- voice concerns, and
- make suggestions.
No matter who is in the room.
In addition, the meeting facilitator makes sure that attendees go through the items on the agenda in a timely manner and that next action steps are agreed.
The role of the Facilitator in Holacracy
In a Holacracy, the Facilitator is elected at Circle level by the Circle members. The main purpose of the Facilitator is to make sure that the Circle's Governance and Tactical meetings in accordance with the rules of the Constitution. The Circle Lead and Facilitator Role cannot be filled by the same person.
